Church Picnic & Flag Retirement Ceremony

Our Annual Church Picnic (With a Twist!)  We ask that you come to church in your picnic clothes and drop off your dish to pass before church starts. Church always provides the meat and we have a  signup sheet for other dishes on the bulletin board. After church is over, come on back and pick up your coffee and treats and head on out to our shade trees and take a seat. We have aluminum chairs so if you want to bring your own lawn chair, feel free to do that. Myself, Mike Schick, Dave Elftman and others will be showing you how a proper Flag Retirement Ceremony is conducted. Some of Mike’s Scouts are able to join us too. We have lots of flags in the garage that need to be retired, but if you have a flag at home that needs retiring because it is torn or faded, feel free to bring that along. A Ceremonial Flag can also be dedicated to a special person in your life if you would like. If you have never seen this type of  ceremony before, don’t be surprised if you are moved to tears. I have conducted and participated in hundreds of these ceremonies and it is difficult to describe what you may feel. After this ceremony, we will have our picnic with lots of delicious food! As many of you know we have a few games available to play after the picnic including cribbage, Pictionary and whatever else you may wish to do. There is no Packer game this day, so come on out and enjoy this day with your brothers and sisters in Christ!
